Technology Attorney

So I just got some more details about the position, so they would technically be hired through our firm so they would have all of our benefits but they would be directly working for Ford so they would also have their days/holidays off. The position is currently remote if it would every transition to in the office the office is located in Allen Park, MI in the Ford IT building. Any other information you need?

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Managing risk to client through effective negotiations with third parties in technology transactions and various technology matters.
  • Managing the legal aspects in complex IT projects to achieve required deadlines.
  • Participating in cross-functional teams formed to ensure that business objectives and requirements are met with a given transaction.
  • Reviewing open-source software licenses and assessing risks related to various business needs, including communicating risks in business or technical terms.
  • Ensuring effective ongoing relationships with third parties with whom there are existing transactions (licenses, agreements, regulatory).
  • Participate in third party relationship management activities
  • Collaborate with IT center of excellence for vendor management (framework, tools, practices, learning resources for IT professionals),
  • Guide development of relationships with new technology vendors or customers to deliver win-win outcomes supporting client's long-term technology and mobility strategies
  • Consulting to business partners on proposed or completed technology-related legal matters to aid their decision making and risk assessment.
  • Providing proactive decision-making information for contracts and other related legal documents.
  • Effective manage multiple projects simultaneously, each with critical deadlines.
  • Effective management of cross functional /multi-departmental global projects, incorporating many perspectives, cultures, geographies.

 

Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • JD degree (Law Degree) with good standing membership in the Michigan Bar Association
  • Technical undergraduate degree with relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying risks and analyzing requirements for various technology related legal matters
  • Demonstrated experience servicing clients in various technology transactions
  • Information technology industry experience sufficient to understand IT requirements, technology products/services, and assess risks
  • Experience drafting technology contracts
  • Demonstrated experience with balancing of client's goals with overall corporate risk management (e.g., pressing project needs with prudent risk management) resulting in the need to frequently use mediation, problem solving, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the motivations of each party in a transaction and translate that into a win-win solution.
  • Experience identifying technology related business risk and communicating in business terms.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience managing relationships with third party technology vendors
  • Demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to service clients by:

· listening to business partner's needs to ascertain needs and clear objectives

· developing strong trusted and influential relationships with key stakeholders

· identifying the key drivers in various transactions / focusing on the true issue

· balancing enterprise risk factors with business partner's goals

· setting strategy and defining actions to achieve the strategy

· applying industry knowledge to drafting agreements and conducting negotiations

· motivating and leading diverse virtual teams brought together to execute a particular transaction

· leveraging limited resources to achieve goals
